Julianna Van Mulligen, MA, Registered Psychologist
Hello and welcome.
I am a Registered Psychologist offering virtual sessions to individuals located in Ontario and Alberta. I hold a Bachelors of Science in Psychology from the University of Northern British Columbia and a Masters degree in Counselling Psychology from McGill University. I have experience working in a variety of settings including a crisis line, a university counselling centre, a Native Friendship Center, and in private practice.
My practice focuses on individual counselling sessions, catering to those seeking support with a range of mental health and life issues. While I work with adults of all ages, I have a particular interest in supporting women aged 20-40 as they navigate relationship challenges, life transitions, perfectionism, self-esteem concerns, depression, and anxiety. Additionally, I specialize in working with Highly Sensitive People (HSP), offering tailored support to help them navigate the unique challenges they face.
In my counselling practice, I embrace a trauma-informed and integrative approach, working collaboratively with my clients to facilitate their journey towards living authentically and wholly. Influenced by existential/humanistic and psychodynamic orientations, my practice emphasizes the importance of exploring the deeper layers of the human experience. I primarily utilize techniques grounded in Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to support my clients in their healing and growth.
Beyond therapy, my adventurous spirit has led me to live in five cities and explore 23 countries. I find solace and inspiration in nature and animals, often spending my free time walking my dog Frida, running, hiking, and gardening. I also enjoy cooking, indulging in films/series, thrift shopping, dining at vegan restaurants, and practicing meditation.
